It used to be called Willow Creek Apartments, then Lakeside, and soon – and only for a short time – just a big piece of vacant land at the corner of Walnut Hill and Central Expressway. And then sometime next year, its transition to a $300-$400 million mixed-use development of residential, retail and office will begin. Provident Realty has negotiated with neighborhood groups for a few years prior to setting on this grand plan, which will be called the Glen at Preston Hollow. Just about every kind of residential (zero-lot, apartment and senior) will be represented, along with a 100,000-SF office building and a lot of retail, much of it targeted to smaller, neighborhood-oriented shops. And in the trivia department, I lived in the old Willow Creek apartments for a couple of years back in the 1980s; in fact, I watched one of Nolan Ryan’s no-hitters there.
