Most garage bands result from a few buddies with a mutual love of rock. But the way neighborhood band Random Circumstance came together was … well, random. “Two of our members were neighbors who wanted to get a band going. They put the word out, and from there, we all met through mutual acquaintances or chance encounters,” says drummer Adam Gonzales. “Most band members are friends long before they ever start their band, but we’re all friends because of our band.” Three years later, the six-member ensemble is still jamming in Gonzales’ garage, at private parties or at local venues such as Hurricane Bar & Grill on Greenville. The band mostly plays classic rock and pop covers, although lead singer Jennifer Lindsey has written a handful of originals. “Stupid Mistake,” the band’s first original, was picked for “Austin Rockers for Life,” a compilation CD of 20 Texas bands that benefits Ground Control, a nonprofit dedicated to curbing drunk driving. “We have a truly dynamic band,” says bassist Geoff Dowdy. “We have a female vocalist, two male vocalists and a saxophone player, which isn’t common for a rock band. Plus we have good stage energy, an eclectic song range, and we just enjoy playing music that makes people feel good.”
