The U.S. Junior Amateur Champion has been highlighted as one of the most promising up-and-coming players this year. And according to this PGA article, athletes like Tony Romo agree. The two stay in touch and recently played some holes together.
Spieth is the youngest amateur to receive an exemption at the Byron Nelson and the first in 15 years. Others included Trip Kuehne in 1995 and Justin Leonard and Tiger Woods in 1993.
