Savannah Smith, a W.T. White junior, competed in the 16th annual USRowing Youth National Championships over the weekend on Harsha Lake in Bethel, Ohio. She finished 22nd in the country, along with her Highland Park Crew, with a 2K time of 7:50.

The event included more than 1,600 high schools from 164 programs with more than 360 boats on the water. To qualify for the competition, rowers had to place first, second or third at a regatta for the eights, lightweight eights, quads, fours, lightweight fours, pairs, doubles, lightweight doubles or singles.

All the girls plan to compete again next year.
