I’ve been out of town on wine stuff for the past 10 days, and haven’t had a chance to parse the proposed city budget. Which is probably just as well, given that it appears to be the disaster that we were afraid it was going to be.

But, to paraphrase one of the world’s first great political columnists, “Once more unto the breach, dear friends; once more.” Give me a couple of days to pore through it, and I’ll have a few thoughts about who got jobbed the most. The early betting looks to be on the libraries and rec centers.

And I do find it odd, given the city’s rush to privatize, that the city wants to form a power company to sell electricity. That hardly seems like a core competency, does it?
