I’ve already talked about this new tea shop a little bit here on the blog, but I put it to the test earlier this week when I met up there with a local book club.

I Heart Boba opened just a couple of weeks ago in the former Village Tea storefront at Preston and Forest. It’s still owned by Village Tea Company, they just hadn’t had much luck with hot tea in Texas, so they’re trying their hand at boba – an underrated beverage that’s hard to find in some parts of Dallas, particularly Preston Hollow. Most boba fans frequent Fat Straws next to the Galleria.

The atmosphere is friendly to large, discussion groups with soft lighting and comfy chairs and couches. It does get a little loud sometimes as they blend the tea behind the counter.  I ordered the Jasmine Green Tea with boba. It’s good for what it is, but I should have ordered something like a flavored smoothie with boba.

All in all it’s a nice, comfortable place (free Wifi). The tea isn’t as good as Fat Straws, but good enough to stop making the trek across LBJ. I Heart Boba is a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

Stop by at 7 tonight for the grand opening celebration, hosted by Lisa Garza from “Next Food Network Star”. There’s also live music, tastings and drink specials through Saturday.
