This weekend: Art exhibit, ‘Race to Nowhere’

Irma Rangel LOVE Lesson Winning Artwork This weekend: Art exhibit, Race to NowhereFind some peace and love through children’s art on display now through Feb. 21 at Neiman Marcus inside NorthPark Center.  Dallas-area students participated in a competition through Today Marks the Beginning, a nonprofit organization that uses art to raise awareness about social issues. The exhibit features art related to the theme of love. The contest involved more than 400 students from Irma Rangel Young Women’s Leadership School, L.L. Hotchkiss Elementary and Parish Episcopal School. Ten winners from each school were chosen to show their work.

A new critically acclaimed film sheds light on another side of the debate when it comes to education – the “dark side of America’s achievement culture”. You can catch a screening of “Race to Nowhere” at 7 p.m. Feb. 13 at Studio Movie Grill at Royal and Central. The film explores so-called silent epidemics in schools from cheating to depression. Advanced tickets are available here.
