Earth Day is this Friday, April 22, and here’s how neighborhood schools, community centers and businesses are celebrating:

Jewish Community Center: The JCC is making an entire day of it, starting with Yoga Conga in the Park 10-11:15 a.m. by the Lewis Park Fountain. The program involves yoga set to Conga drums. Get rid of some clutter and help the hungry 10 a.m.-noon in the parking lot where a shredding truck will be on site. The first five standard-sized boxes are free, and each additional is $2. Bring one can of non-perishable food per box for the Jewish Family Service food bank. A tour guide will lead neighbors on the Spirit in Nature Walk 1:30-2:30 p.m., exploring the area around the JCC and Jewish text relating to nature. All events are free.

E.D. Walker Middle School: To celebrate the school’s new garden, made possible by a $5,000 grant from Lowe’s, E.D. Walker has invited the community to help plant it 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Facelogic Spa: Receive a discount on products and services all week at this local spa by bringing materials to recycle such as old plastic or glass make-up containers or candles. Guests will get 15 percent off April 18-22.

North Haven Gardens: Attend a free Earth Day program, Bountiful Backyard Gardens, noon-1:30 p.m. Friday to learn how to make a difference for the environment.
