Our neighborhood public schools received some high recognition from the district today.

Pete Chapasko, the principal who helped Preston Hollow Elementary become the “exemplary” school that is today, has been named Principal of the Year by Dallas ISD. Shanna Burton of E.D. Walker Middle School was named Associate Principal of the Year. She helped develop the school’s Fast Pass Program, which rewards students with good behavior, allowing them to be first in line at lunch.

Superintendent Michael Hinojosa and District 3 Trustee Bruce Parrott presented the awards at a ceremony today. Chapasko received $2,500, and Burton received $1,000.
