Preston Hollow resident Leslie Ezelle invited everyone she knows to a watch party for HGTV’s “Design Star” reality television show on which she’s been competing to win her very own show on the network.

To everyone’s surprise, Ezelle was cut from Design Star this week and sent packing. But she celebrated her loss by announcing her newest project: pursuing the role as the 2011 Honorary Chair for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Ezelle is a breast cancer survivor herself and has already raised up to $30,000 for the organization.

Next month, she’ll debut a sculpture in honor of the cause, which she designed and commissioned George Tobolowsky to create.

In our October issue, look for a story on Ezelle how she’s empowering survivors take back their lives. There also be several events happening that month through her breast cancer awareness campaign.

Ezelle is an interior designer by trade, a painter and a former Dallas Cowboys cheerleader.
