The lowdown on what’s up with neighborhood businesses

Shoplocaldfw.com supports local businesses
Sunnyland Patio Furniture owner Brad Schweig is bringing local businesses together through his new site, shoplocaldfw.com. Beginning this month, Schweig will host a savings event on the third Tuesday of each month at participating local retailers. “We currently have 19 participating stores in DFW including many in Far North Dallas, Richardson and Preston Hollow,” Schweig says. Preston Hollow participants include KidBiz, Castle Gap Jewelry and Smashing Times.

Park Tavern to open at The Shops at Park Lane
Park Tavern is set to open this month at The Shops at Park Lane. With hopes for a mid-month opening, the restaurant is the first D/FW venture for Chicago-based parent company Restaurants-America, which also opened Townhouse Kitchen + Bar in the former Sushi Samba space at Galleria Dallas. Park Tavern will feature American cuisine in a “sophisticated urban setting”. The menu will offer a wide selection of small plates, sandwiches, salads and entrees, and the 6,800-square foot restaurant will be located near Bailey’s Prime Plus.

Nothing Bundt Cakes expands
Nothing Bundt Cakes, the beloved Preston and Royal store, continues its Texas expansion with four new completed leases in Arlington, Frisco, Flower Mound and Rockwall. But the Las Vegas-based store isn’t finished yet; there are plans to open stores in Plano and Lake Highlands in 2012. Known for pure ingredients and adorable little cakes, Nothing Bundt Cakes now has 31 retail locations in the U.S.

1. This month, A Tiney Hiney Baby Boutique is moving from Far North Dallas to Preston Hollow, setting up shop at the southwest corner of Preston and Forest between CVS and Sunstone Yoga.
2. The new Central Market now under construction at Preston and Royal is scheduled to open in February.
3. Dallas-based fro-yo chain Red Mango, with a location at NorthPark Center, is expanding to Mexico through a deal with Cinemax that will place Red Mango kiosks in movie theaters.
