The Tzofim Friendship Caravan will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Jewish Community Center. The Israeli Scouts combine American and Israeli culture through Hebrew, Yiddish and English song and dance. Run On! Dallas at Preston and Forest is turning 1 year old and, to celebrate, will host a cake social 2-4 p.m and live music 4-6 p.m. Saturday. Starbucks, Tiff’s Treats, Snappy Salads and several other local businesses will offer food and beverages. Discounts and raffles will be offered all day.

Students from the SMU Institute for Young Pianists (which runs July 10-14) will perform 4:30-6 p.m. Friday in NorthCourt at NorthPark Center. These 20 students are entering grades 3-12 in the fall. The Institute is an intensive, performance-based experience including private lessons, master classes and group experiences on keyboard skills, music theory and history and ensemble performance taught by SMU faculty, graduate pedagogy students and guest artist/teachers.

The Texas Bluebonnet Award Book Club is meeting 1-2:30 p.m, Sunday at the Park Forest Library to discuss “The Cheshire Cheese Cat” by Carmen Agra Deedy, “Like Pickle Juice on a Cookie” by Julie Sternberg and “Hot Diggity Dog: The History of the Hot Dog” by Adrienee Sylver. The discussion is geared toward children in grades 3-6.
