Juan Clemente Silvas

On what would have been his first day on the job as a counselor at Hillcrest High School, 25-year-old Juan Clemente Silvas was arrested Tuesday for sexual assault of a child, according to this DMN blog post.

The DMN indicates Silvas resigned from a job at Kennedale High School, allegedly had sex with a 16-year-old Kennedale student, and then joined DISD and Hillcrest. Silvas was arrested by Arlington police after the 16-year-old’s mother filed a complaint and he was interviewed at the Arlington police station. He posted bond of $3,500 the same day and is awaiting disposition of his case.

Because he wasn’t employed by Kennedale when the sexual incident occurred, Silvas won’t be charged with having an improper relationship with a student, the DMN says.
