Typically, much of our photography entails off-camera lighting to craft lifestyle portraits. But for our recent issue about restaurant regulars, setting up flash stands and large soft boxes in busy restaurants was out of the question.
Instead, we took a guerilla-style documentary approach. And while we’re accustomed to photographing folks for their innovation, entrepreneurship or philanthropy, the lovely people we met and made pictures of pushed toward local celebrity status for this: eating food.
(Note: Making pictures of diners is a challenge. After all, who looks good scarfing down a honking bite of food?)
