Pumpkin loaf at Stein's Bakery: Mark Davis

Pumpkin loaf at Stein’s Bakery: Mark Davis

Here in Preston Hollow we may not have the greatest fall colors or remotely chilly breezes, but at least we can get a taste of fall at these seven spots. Whether it’s creamy, sippable, or crunchy pumpkin treats that you crave, one of the goodies on the list below is sure to satisfy:

1. Stein’s Bakery on LBJ and Preston is famous for its cheese pockets, petit fours, and coffee cakes, but at this time of the year it’s all about their pumpkin bread. Don’t wait to try it though, since it’s only available through Thanksgiving.

2. Start the day off with some pumpkin at the Original Pancake House at Midway and Northwest Highway. The restaurant is now serving pumpkin spice pancakes topped with whipped cream available for a limited time.

3. The portable pumpkin empanada at Society Bakery in Medical City is good for a little pumpkin fix on the fly.

4. The Pinkberry in the Preston Royal shopping center boasts the best pumpkin-flavored fro-yo in town.

5. Stop by Einstein Bros. on Preston and Royal for a hearty pumpkin walnut crunch bagel topped with some pumpkin-flavored schmear or a pumpkin white chocolate cookie.

6. As usual in the fall, a variety of pumpkin treats abound at Starbucks on LBJ and Coit. With it’s subtle pumpkin flavor, the pumpkin scone is my personal favorite go-to.

7. The Nothing Bundt Cakes at Preston and Royal just launched their seasonal pumpkin spice bundt cake with cream cheese icing.
