Advocate wrote about Royal China in our December cover story “Do Preston Hollow like a Tourist.”

The family-owned Chinese restaurant is a bit of a neighborhood establishment, having been around since 1974. George, the son of original owner“Buck” Shu-Chang Kao, now owns the restaurant at the northeast corner of the Preston Royal Shopping Center.

In the cover story, editor Monica Nagy recommends that patrons sit and watch the “Dumpling Ladies,” Yu-Xia Zhong and Hwa-Juan Shen hand-make dumplings—from pork to shrimp, to vegetable, or even gluten-free.

Well, it looks like the “Dumpling Ladies” are joined by another chef worth watching: Zhang Xue Liang. Food critic Leslie Brenner captured some of his noodle-making expertise—and Elvis-like dance moves, on her phone and wrote about it here.
