Purple vanilla milkshake: Purple Cow/Facebook

Family favorite Preston Royal Village shopping center burger joint Purple Cow Restaurant will remain open as the burger franchise downsizes its presence in Texas. That’s according to CultureMap, who reports that the Purple Cow in Fairview closed last month and the Plano location closed about a month and a half ago, staffers say.

The restaurant, known for its kid-friendly burgers and adult friendly booze-infused shakes, also serves breakfast and participates in several community fundraisers. Most recently, the restaurant had food drives for the North Texas food bank, the Winston School, and Christ the King School.

The burger spot is hosting an especially kid-friendly event this Saturday and next at either 9 or 10:15 a.m.: breakfast with Santa Claus himself. Reservations for the breakfast are required and cost $5 for kids and $12 for adults, which isn’t so bad considering that you avoid the masses waiting for some Santa time, plus you get fed. Call 214.368.2444 or email assistant@purplecowtexas.com.
