Update: Dallas Police released this statement regarding yesterday’s incident. They deployed 14 police squads to the scene where a seven-car collision had occurred near Skillman/Audelia.
”The resultant traffic back up made police response difficult at best and some motorists, apparently unwilling to wait until the collisions could be cleared, took it upon themselves to go against the flow of traffic in an effort to get out of the congestion.  Adding to the difficulties, one well-intentioned officer appears to have directed some motorists up a closed ramp to try and get them off the freeway with no success.”
Our local TV news outlets captured a strange occurrence on LBJ Freeway today — a scene that could have come straight out of an episode of “The Walking Dead,” as one person tweeted.

A wreck caused the eastbound lanes to close near Skillman, with traffic backing up west all the way past the High 5. But instead of waiting it out, drivers began turning around in the opposite direction to escape the gridlock, and some even got out of their cars.

Just, wow.
