Cherish the Children luncheon

Dallas CASA Children’s Council will host its annual Cherish the Children luncheon at Ritz-Carlton on April 8 at 11 a.m. Luncheon proceeds benefit volunteer advocates who help abused children find safe, permanent and loving homes. Adorable, artfully-designed and professionally-made children’s chairs and furniture — none of which are available in stores — will be available for sale on a first-come, first-serve basis. Preston Hollow neighbor, New York Times best-selling author, and decorated military officer Donovan Campbell will serve as keynote speaker. (By the way, you can learn more about Campbell’s life story in our Q&A, here.)  At the luncheon, Donovan will share his experiences in the military that taught him the value of applying servant leadership in everyday life through the development of key characteristics. Luncheon tickets cost $150-$250 each and are available for purchase here.

This year’s Frontiers of Flight Museum gala will begin at 6:30 p.m. on April 11. Honor guards, drill teams (including the Hillcrest High School Panaders,) and musical entertainment will herald an evening celebrating service to country and community with special guest speaker Ross Perot. Plus, Admiral Patrick Walsh and Roger Staubach will receive the museum’s prestigious Haddaway Award. Gala attendance and sponsorships support the education of the next generation of aviators and astronauts through the museum’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Math programs, which reach more than 10,000 students each year. Tickets start at $250.

The Friends of the Preston Royal Library are hosting the Preston Royal Library book sale, with proceeds benefitting the library. Would you rather go book shopping than clean house? Hit the sale 10 a.m.-6 p.m. April 25-26. Proceeds benefit Preston Royal Library.
