A few stories about neighborhood places and people that made headlines this week:

Thanks to the persistence of a number of Texas representatives, including the efforts of state Rep. Jason Villalba (representing Lake Highlands, Preston Hollow and North Dallas) Sriracha may be closer to a Texas expansion, KERA reports. Denton officials announced that on Monday they’ll be traveling to Irwindale, California, to meet with Huy Fong Foods, the company that produces the popular hot sauce.

Texas Monthly posted a nice tribute (along with several fantastic, pink tinged retro photos) in honor of Preston Hollow businesswoman Mary Kay Ash. The makeup mogul would have turned 96 on Monday. Also, her Preston Hollow mansion is still on the market for a cool $2.7 million.

This Saturday, the first Spanx store in Texas will open in NorthPark Center. Attend the ribbon-cutting and meet the founder of the popular shapewear, Sara Blakely, in person at the store starting at 10 a.m.
