More than 20 volunteers from Alcuin School shaved their heads last week in solidarity with a classmate diagnosed with cancer. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation event raised more than $55,000 for childhood cancer research.

Alcuin Middle School student Gregory Yared and his mother Cindy helped recruit people from the school community to their support by going bald.

Others who raised funds or volunteered to have their heads shaved included Alcuin Head of School Walter Sorensen and Luanne Samuel, Director of Development (pictured below), as well as students, parents and Alcuin School supporters from the community. 106.1 KISS FM Radio Personality Billy the Kid emceed the event.
