Glen Meadow neighbor Brent Herling and volunteers, who we wrote about in the July issue, celebrated the completion of the Forest Lane mural on Friday after weeks of Saturday morning paintings.

In early June, a discussion began about whether the Forest Lane mural — painted by W.T. White art students in the 1970s — is an icon or an eyesore. It may not be high art, but it seems to mean something to the neighbors and W.T. White alumni who grew up with the psychedelic display as part of the neighborhood’s character.

Check out the group’s Facebook page to see the progress volunteers made on the wall over the past several weeks, despite at least one naysayer who would have rather seen a wall of beige.
