Dallas ISD has met all four of the state’s accountability standards according to results recently released by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Plus, a handful of neighborhood schools earned additional distinctions from the agency.

In all four categories — student achievement, student progress, closing performance gaps, and postsecondary readiness — DISD outperformed thresholds set by the state. The district’s official rating for 2014 from TEA is “Met Standard.”

“The state’s performance standards are becoming more rigorous year after year and the vast majority of our campuses are rising to the challenge,” DISD Superintendent Mike Miles says.

The TEA also measured up to seven achievement designations for all DISD schools, such as reading performance, English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and being grouped in the top quarter of their comparison group.

After one year under the leadership of Principal Richie Heffernan (2013 DISD Principal of the Year),  E.D. Walker Middle School, has been named the highest ranking inclusive school in DISD to earn distinctions from the TEA in each of the seven categories. Only 15 out of the 220 DISD campuses earned the distinction.

W. T. White High School and Nathan Adams Elementary School also performed exceptionally, receiving distinctions in five out of six categories.
