Dallas was declared Ebola-free two weeks ago, but the deadly virus continues to be a global epidemic.

In response, Connections, a local clergy-fronted band that performs tribute shows to support various missional causes, has decided to host a benefit concert to raise funds for Ebola relief efforts in Africa.

This Friday the band is headed to Northaven United Methodist Church to perform classic rock hits from The Eagles and Chicago. The show starts at 7 p.m. and is free, but all donations received will benefit the nonprofit UMCOR.

Northaven United Methodist Church’s senior pastor and bandmember Eric Folkerth says via email that the show is particularly significant for the Methodist community. Dr. Martin Salia died in Nebraska just days ago after contracting Ebola while serving as a medical missionary at United Methodist Kissy Hospital in Sierra Leone.
