The forthcoming Preston Center land-use study will revolve around a task force of neighborhood stakeholders, but more people need to step up. Councilwoman Jennifer Staubach Gates wrote in a email blast that her office has so far received “a handful of applications,” and she’s looking for more.

Here are the boundaries for the study, which includes the commercial center (Zone 1) and surrounding residential neighborhoods. The plan is to divide the area into seven zones and have neighbors represent the interests of each as city staff and the North Texas Council of Governments work to decide what’s best for the high-profile corner, following two recent zoning battles.

The city needs task force applications by Dec. 1. Members will be selection in January, and the study should be underway by the summer. Email Gates’ office or call 214.670.3816.
