The Dallas Marathon is this Sunday, and while the route doesn’t pass through our neighborhood this year, several Preston Hollow kids will be running the course as part of the 2014 Elite High School Relay Challenge.

Sixteen of the area’s top long-distance runners will compete as a relay team against the world-class professional marathon field in the 26.2-mile race alongside Dallas Marathon runners.

If the marathon’s first-place finisher beats the relay team on race day, the runner receives $1,500 bonus. The neighborhood high schoolers competing in the relay team include:

J.T. Graass, a junior at St. Mark’s; miles 1-2 in Downtown/Deep Ellum
Daniel Cope, a sophomore at St. Mark’s; miles 7-9 on Greenville AvenueConnor O’Neill, a sophomore at Jesuit College Preparatory School; miles 12-14 at White Rock Lake
Lili Clark, a senior at the Episcopal School of Dallas; miles 15-16 at White Rock Lake

It will all be broadcast live on WFAA beginning at 8 a.m. Sunday. Go here for a map to find out where to go to cheer on the runners.
