Two neighborhood public schools have been named finalists for the National Center for Urban School Transformation Excellence in Urban Education Award: Pershing Elementary and Walnut Hill Elementary.
The award recognizes the nation’s highest-performing schools that serve socioeconomically disadvantaged student. Two other Dallas ISD elementary schools, John Quincy Adams and Jimmie Tyler Brashear, also made the list among 22 schools across the country.
NCUST will conduct extensive site visits at each school before announcing winners (at the bronze, silver and gold levels) in March at the Symposium on Excellence in Urban Education in Dallas.
