Irma De La Guardia

Irma De La Guardia, who teaches third-grade dual-language Withers Elementary, has been named 2015 Teacher of the Year by the National Association of Bilingual Education (NABE).

De La Guardia qualified for the national competition after becoming the state winner in the Texas Association of Bilingual Education competition last fall.

De La Guardia was recruited to Withers in 2007 to help launch the school’s dual-language program. The Mexico City native moved to Dallas 15 years ago. In the 2013-2014 school year, the Multi-language Enrichment Program instructional coaches named her Dallas ISD’s Teacher of the year nominee for the Bilingual/ESL Education Association of the Metroplex.
