Massage Felax Spa

Chris Ahn and Amy Holt recently expanded their spa, Massage Felax, to our neighborhood at Hillcrest and Northwest Highway, specializing in the ancient art of reflexology. Ahn, a native of South Korea, learned the technique from his father who developed a 50-step training program.

“The tips of the toes correspond with the brain, the back of the calf with the sciatic nerve; the center of the palm with the stomach, etc. It’s much more than what most perceive as a foot rub,” Ahn says.

He came to Dallas and began training professionals to work in the spa, which originally opened in Addison. It has since expanded to Preston Hollow, East Dallas and Allen.

Holt studied reflexology in Shanghai and has broadened the services available at the spa, including “ashiatsu” — a rarely seen technique in which the therapist hangs from bars on the ceiling and massages clients with bare feet and body weight.

This week Holt has launched a special to which she has a personal connection. Her father was a Navy officer, and massage therapy helped relieve his injuries and inspired her pursuits in therapeutics. So, she’s using the business to honor other war veterans.

Now through Memorial Day, Massage Felax offers 10 veterans one hour of complimentary treatment each. It’s first-come, first-serve, and veterans can call 214.363.3529 to make an appointment, present their VA card and enter to a drawing to win a long-term spa package.

The promotion begins again in June and runs through Veterans Day.

Next month, beginning June 1, Massage Felax turns their support to the local running community. The spa will honor any winning runners (first-third place) of all local races with a complimentary, specialized runner’s rest and recovery treatment. Just call ahead and show your medal or certificate upon arrival.
