Councilwoman Jennifer Staubach Gates is no stranger to the Twittersphere. Our neighborhood representative posts on the site almost daily. As you might expect, many of her Tweets are about City Hall. But, from time to time, she gets a bit more personal. Here are five things we learned about Gates by following her on Twitter.

1. She gets bored in meetings, just like the rest of us.

June 17 was a rough day at City Hall. At 9:13 a.m. Gates wrote, “If you are planning on coming this afternoon to @1500Marilla for Public Hearings please know the morning is going very slow.”  More than ten hours later, she Tweeted the following:

The councilwoman later added, “Honestly @1500Marilla will miss all 6 and it has been an honor to serve with them the last 2 years. #Goodbye #Godspeed.”

2. She’s a Lyle Lovett fan.

Gates follows 239 Twitter accounts. Lyle Lovett’s is one of them. On May 30, she attended a Jimmy Buffett concert and snapped a picture when he played one of Lovett’s songs.

3. She doesn’t take herself too seriously.

In February, Gates caught her nephew and his friend using her campaign signs as sleds. Rather than getting angry, she joked about it on Twitter.

4. She has fashion sense.

And so does her daughter. On June 7, the two women attended a basketball game and apparently spent some time chatting about the players’ lackluster uniforms.

5. She’s pining for Bluebell

Dryer’s just doesn’t cut it for this Texas girl. On her Birthday, Gates went public with her love for Bluebell.
