Hillcrest High School’s homecoming parade begins Friday at 5 p.m. The theme is “masquerade,” so why not take your Halloween costume for a test run? Even if you can’t attend, note that Aberdeen Avenue, between Franklin and Hillcrest, will be blocked off for the event.
Also on Friday, a new jewelry repair studio opens in Preston Royal Southwest. To celebrate, owner Al Momentum will play the harp at his eponymous shop and provide refreshments. In addition to being a wiz with watches and string instruments, Momentum knows a thing or two about medicine — he worked as a doctor in Colombia, his home country. Meet him between 2 and 6 p.m.
Take a CrossFit class, plant some wildflowers and meet your neighbors this Saturday at My Park Day. The free party, planned by the Friends of Northaven Trail, begins at 8 a.m. in the Virginia Cook Respite area. Click here for details.
