Lamplighter isn’t the only neighborhood school getting a makeover. An 11,360 building, valued at more than $4 million, will be added to The Winston School in the coming months.

The facility “will be largely dedicated to the arts” and house “a recording studio, auditorium, 3D art studio, theater arts facilities, and more.”

Help the school, which specializes in learning differences, celebrate at a groundbreaking event this Thursday. The festivities begin at 10 a.m. and Councilwoman Jennifer Staubach Gates will serve as the honorary speaker.

“I am excited to be a part of this momentous occasion for The Winson School as they break ground to expand their campus,” she says. “We are fortunate to have such a specialized and nurturing school in District 13.”
