With its champagne flutes and midnight kisses, New Year’s Eve is indisputably a holiday for adults. But thanks to Vogel Alcove, people of all ages can celebrate the start of 2016 at Fair Park. The nonprofit, which serves homeless children, will host a fundraiser of epic proportions on Jan. 1 from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Enjoy “performances by nationally known entertainers, a spectacular fireworks show and your favorite carnival food.” Famed Preston Hollow residents Roger and Marianne Staubach are two of the event’s biggest supporters and our neighborhood museum, Frontiers of Flight, will be on site, teaching young folks about aviation. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. Kids under 4 years old get in free (as long as they are accompanied by an adult, of course.) Click here for details.

If you’re determined to exercise your green thumb in 2016, stop by North Haven Gardens. On Jan. 2 at 9 a.m. the Bonsai Society of Dallas will teach you how to sculpt and care for miniature Japanese trees. The event is free to attend.

Sunday, Jan. 3, is your last opportunity to check out the holiday exhibits at NorthPark Center. Everything, including the trains, will be packed up the next day.
