Bookmarks at NorthPark Center welcomes authors Charles and La-Toya Renthrope this Saturday, Jan. 16. The duo will read their children’s book, “Escape from Smoothie Island: A Fruity Adventure.” The cover shows ice cubes and produce fleeing a blender, so one can assume this is something of a horror story. Auditions for the Aaron Family Jewish Community Center’s production of “Seussical Jr.” kickoff this Sunday, Jan. 17. Kids between the ages of 6 and 18 are welcome to try out, but they must come ready to sing. Hopefuls are required to belt 16-32 bars of a song of their choice. Auditions begin at 1 p.m. for those in the 6-10 year old range and 4:30 p.m. for those in the 11-18 year old range. Click here for details.
