Something odd (not to mention illegal) reportedly happened on Shady Hill over the weekend. According to an email from the Northaven Park Neighborhood Association (NPNA), a man claiming his name was Charlie knocked on a resident’s door March 19. He said he lived three houses away, that his car had stalled and that he “needed $60 to get it towed or fixed.”

Since the resident believed “Charlie” was a neighbor, he/she let him borrow the money. “Charlie” allegedly said he’d return it right away, but a significant amount of time elapsed. Concerned, the moneylender called the house where the man said he lived.

The person who answered the phone said no one by the name of Charlie lived there. The NPNA crime watch team says, “Incidents similar to this have occurred numerous times in our neighborhood. They have been reported many times in the NPNA Monthly Crime Report.”
