Lisa Cooley, one of our Bluffview neighbors, will serve as the honorary chair of Heroes for Children’s annual fundraiser, Heroes & Handbags, on April 8 at 9:30 a.m. Money raised at the event helps “provide financial and social assistance to families with children battling cancer,” according to the nonprofit. Tickets are $250 for individuals. Bid on new and vintage designer handbags in a silent auction, then enjoy brunch and chat with more than 500 guests. The Ritz-Carlton will host. Since 2013, Junior League of Dallas and Mary Kay have provided college scholarships to ambitious young women at Emmett J. Conrad High School. This year, students at Thomas Jefferson High School and South Oak Cliff High School were also eligible to apply. The top ten finalists will deliver speeches at 6:30 p.m. on March 31 at the Junior League headquarters in our neighborhood. Based on those presentations, one of the girls will receive a $10,000 college scholarship. Three $5,000 scholarships will also be awarded
