Screen shot from NBC 5 newscast: Ira Tobolowsky and his Preston Hollow area home

Ira Tobolowsky, a prominent local attorney was found dead in his home following a fire, but police suspect foul play.

Dallas police reportedly told NBC 5 they believe Tobolowsky was murdered. Further, reports NBC 5, Dallas Fire-Rescue arson investigators concluded the fire, which started in Tobolowsky’s garage, was “suspicious.”

The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office says it could take weeks to conclusively determine Tobolowsky’s exact cause of death.

Meanwhile, Tobolowsky’s neighbors say they are doing their part to assist police.

Members of the Hillcrest Forest Neighborhood Association issued the following request:

“As many of you know, we lost Ira Tobolowsky—brother, husband, father, friend, and neighbor—last Friday in a tragic fire. It has been classified by the police as a homicide, and there is reason to believe that the perpetrator entered and exited the property through the gate on the alley behind Ira’s home on Kenshire.  If you live in the vicinity and have a camera on an alley, street, or anywhere in the neighborhood, the police would be especially interested in vehicles between 7 and 8 a.m. on Friday, May 13, but the perpetrators may have been researching prior to that date.”

If you have any information (even the most mundane street/alley video that shows vehicles around or prior to that time, neighbors say) please contact Dallas Police Detective Robert Laurence at 214-671-3704 or robert.laurence@dpd.ci.dallas.tx.us.

If you have information but wish to remain anonymous contact Crime Stoppers at 214.671.373.TIPS—$5,000 could be awarded for information leading to the arrest and indictment for this or any other felony offense.
