Days after violence erupted at a Black Lives Matter protest downtown, when lone sniper Micah Johnson killed four Dallas police officers and one DART transit officer, in addition to injuring seven other officers and two civilians, another protest took place today at NorthPark Center, according to WFAA. The latest protest against police violence toward black Americans like Alton Sterling and Philandro Castile sparked a counter-protest, in which a group carrying American and confederate flags protested the protest across the street.

The Black Lives Matter protestors attempted to enter the mall, but were blocked by security. “The counter group told News 8’s Demond Fernandez they were tired of the Black Lives Matter movement,” WFAA reports. Police remained on scene keeping a close eye on the situation.

But ultimately, the two sides found common ground, as captured in a CNN video that shows leaders from both sides coming together to share hand shakes, hugs, prayers and kind words.
