All of the imaginative playhouses that perked up NorthPark Center this month have been claimed after more than 15,500 raffle tickets were sold, all for the benefit of Dallas Casa. The fundraiser brought in more than $200,000, the most ever in the event’s 21-year history, which will be used to support thousands of abused and neglected children here in Dallas.

During the event, volunteer builders and architects donate their time and talents to make one-of-a-kind playhouses like a safari campsite or a mechanic’s garage complete with a child-sized Cadillac Escalade. The 15 playhouses were raffled off to lucky winners who get to take the creations home.

Funds raised during the charitable month help CASA in its efforts to support the more than 4,600 children living under the state’s protection after they were removed from unsafe homes in and around Dallas. In 2015, 926 Dallas CASA volunteers worked with 2,680 children, meaning there are about 2,000 more are in need of assistance. Volunteers are always needed to advocate for a child in court and serve as a stable adult in their lives to help them navigate an unbearably difficult time.
