If you haven’t watched the W.T. White drill team perform, here’s the perfect opportunity.

The Caballeras are performing tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. during the Homecoming game against South Garland at Loos Stadium.

What will make tomorrow’s performance so memorable is that drill team alumni will take to the field with 70 team members. “I’m excited for the girls to just have more positive female role models,” says Juliana Williams, drill team director and dance teacher.

This is Williams’ first year coaching the Caballeras, and it also is the first year more than 80 girls have come to tryouts. “Part of the reason the drill team is so big is we’ve built a huge dance department over 10 years,” she says, adding there are about 600 students in the dance department this year.

Coaching 70 girls of all skill levels may not be an easy feat, but Williams says she just makes the tough calls. “They help each other,” she says. “They rock it out on their own.”
