Neighborhoods across Dallas are celebrating National Night Out on Oct. 4, and Preston Hollow is no exception.

Established in 1984, the nationwide event offers crime prevention and safety tips, and promotes building relationships between community members and first responders. Most states hold the event on Aug. 1, but the Texas heat forces organizers statewide to postpone the event until the first Tuesday of October.

Melshire Estates and Preston Hollow East both have planned community festivities in our neighborhood:

  • Melshire Estates residents can stop by Jamestown Park from 6-7:30 p.m. to introduce themselves to North Central deputy police chief Rick Watson and members of the North Central Operating Division.
  • Preston Hollow East neighbors are meeting at Preston Hollow Park from 5:30-7:30 p.m. to meet local patrol officers, members of the Dallas Fire-Rescue Department and Councilwoman Jennifer Staubach Gates.

If you know of another National Night Out event in our area, send the event information to echudwin@advocatemag.com.
