Preston Hollow chef John Tesar carved a space for himself in the reality TV world with his over-the-top antics and culinary expertise.

With appearances in both Bravo and Food Network series, Tesar became known as the “bad boy” chef, even earning the title of “The Most Hated Chef in Dallas” in a 2011 D Magazine article.

Tesar has started his second season of “Top Chef,” CultureMap reports, as part of a plot twist in which eight new chefs battle it out with eight of the reality show’s veterans.

Although he is a “kinder, gentler chef”— or so he says — he still is as defiant as ever, with a few social media squabbles that raged before the show even aired.

“Top Chef” airs every Thursday at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
