Five things to do this weekend: the holiday event extravaganza continues

Santa_2After being cancelled because of inclement weather this past weekend, Santa Days returns to The Plaza at Preston Center this Saturday. Donate money to the North Texas Food Bank and receive free professional photographs with Santa and his reindeer. The event, which also will be held Saturday, Dec. 17, is from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. More information is available here.

At the Jewish Community Center of Dallas, Hanukkah Hoopla is in full swing on Sunday. Peruse jewelry, clothing, home décor and other wares while children create DIY arts and crafts. Latkes and other traditional fare will be served alongside carnival classics like Dippin’ Dots. Learn more about the event from noon-4 p.m. here.

If you aren’t tired of Christmas music yet, Ursuline Academy‘s Sounds of the Season concert is at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday.

That same day, NorthPark Presbyterian Church’s Sanctuary Choir performs John Rutter’s “Gloria” at 11 a.m before the Jolly Ol’ Elf makes an appearance during a holiday lunch. The holiday cheer then continues at 1 p.m. when assisted living facility residents are serenaded with Christmas tunes. Get all the details about the Advent Choir Offering and Christmas Caroling here.

The Friends of the Northaven Trail’s Light the Trail Party next to 10937 Edgemere Road brings the holidays to our backyard on Dec. 11 at 5:30 p.m. Catered by Urban Crust, Top Pot doughnuts and Whole Foods, the neighborhood party also features a clothing drive for Project Warm Us, which collects warm clothing for the homeless in North Texas. Visit here for all the details.
