3 things to do this weekend: Secret service, burlesque and succulents

Former secret service agent J. Walter Coughlin reminisces on serving former presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson on Tuesday, Feb. 21. The President’s Day event begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Preston Royal Library, 5626 Royal Lane. There is no charge to attend, get more details here.

North Haven Gardens is all about succulents this Saturday from 1-2:30 p.m. Container Specialist Paula Spletter will teach attendees how to make an assorted succulent display. The cost is $30, but includes materials including eight succulent plants. Get tickets and more details here.

Valentine’s Day may have passed, but Triple Threat Burlesque is just getting started. The ladies are planning a sultry “Valentine’s Soiree” showcase this Saturday at 11 p.m. at Pocket Sandwich Theater, 5400 Mockingbird. See performers Blaze the Red Rose of Texas, Shelbelle Shamrock and Violet D’Vine shimmy and shake for $25, with tickets available here.
