Four Thomas Jefferson students were awarded scholarships for their leadership, dedication and involvement throughout high school.

Alejandra Landa, Adrianna Lopez and and Stephanie Vargas received Women LEAD scholarships awarded by Mary Kay Inc. and the Junior League of Dallas.  The scholarship program was established in 2013 to encourage female high school students to pursue higher education and assume leadership roles.

Lopez, Vargas and Tahania Sierra are recipients of the 2017 Deloitte/Northern Texas PGA Fairway to Success Scholarships, which awards $20,000 to college-bound students based on academic achievement, community service and financial need.  The Fairway to Success program mentors teens at three Dallas ISD schools, including Thomas Jefferson, and gives them the opportunity to learn about golf from PGA professionals.

These aren’t the only extraordinary students from the Class of 2017.  Check out our May cover story to meet the Dallas ISD students who have thrived despite the challenges they’ve been handed.
