A Shake Shack may be opening on Royal Lane near Ken’s Man Shop.

The rumors we heard in January are true.

Shake Shack is coming to Preston Royal Village near Ken Man’s Shop and Einstein Bros. Bagels after all. The fast food restaurant is slated to open this fall, says Tom Kiler, of Edens, the South Carolina-based developer overseeing the shopping center’s revival.

The beloved burger joint started as a hot dog cart in New York City in the early 2000s and now has locations from Florida to California. It made its Dallas debut in Uptown this past September.

Kiler says Edens is courting well-known and national retail chains to revitalize the center and attract customers to its longtime businesses. More restaurants, apparel outlets, home good stores and a fitness boutique are part of the developer’s plans.

By October, neighbors can expect outdoor seating, new landscaping and other upgrades, too.

“We’re trying to transition the retail there to be an experience, instead of a purely commodity-driven trip,” he says.

Edens acquired Preston Royal Village in 2014, after paying $763 million for AmREIT, the company that previously owned the center.
