Cedars Xpress and Grip Mediterranean couldn’t cut it at the Preston Center, but another restaurant hopes to make our neighborhood its home.

Lala’s Mexican Cafe is merging two popular trends — healthy eating and fast casual dining — to appeal to neighborhood families and shoppers alike. CultureMap’s Teresa Gubbins reports Michelle Mireles, the owner of One Arts Plaza’s Jorge’s Tex-Mex Café, is the concept’s creator.

“We’ll offer fresh salsas made daily, and do a more conscious approach to our sourcing,” Mireles told Teresa Gubbins. “That means grass-fed, pasture-raised beef, eggs from pasture-raised chickens, and organic chicken. The chips and tortillas will be organic. We’ll also include vegetarian offerings, and something that not everyone does, which is a healthy menu for kids.”
