It was a whirlwind for W.T. White this past year. In the midst of launching a collegiate academy and constant construction, the North Dallas high school’s principal resigned.

So Dallas ISD reached out to a familiar face to finish out the school year. Without hesitation, Elena Bates agreed to be acting principal. Before serving as Marsh Preparatory Academy’s assistant principal, she was W.T. White’s ninth-grade transition coordinator, English-as-a-second-language teacher, instructional coach and swim coach.

Since Bates recently was offered a permanent position as principal, we thought we’d revisit a story published in February, as she took the helm of the school. You can read it here.
