A Preston Hollow man died Monday after he sustained burn injuries in a house fire.

Dallas Fire Rescue responded to the blaze in the 3600 block of Marsh Lane Place at 5:38 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, spokesman JasonĀ Evans told the Advocate in an email.

The man, who was in his late 70s, heard a pop while he and his daughter tried to light a gas stove. Fire then erupted from the stovetop and made its way to the roof.

Everyone managed to evacuate the home, but the man obtained severe burn injuries, according to Evans. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze in roughly an hour, but “the fire caused significant damage throughout the entire home before it was put out,” Evans wrote.
