Families seeking all-day child care may have another option to choose from soon.

Dallas Daycare Academy is planning to open a center at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 11425 Marsh Lane. The company applied for a special use permit with the City of Dallas to lease 11 of the church’s classrooms.

Northaven Park neighbor Linda Rogers owns the daycare with her son and daughter-in-law, David and Patricia Gray. The couple has run Dallas Daycare and Development from their home since 2011.

Since the licensed at-home facility only has space for 12 children, they decided expansion was the only way to meet the area’s needs, Rogers says.

“It became very obvious there was an overwhelming demand for quality child care in Northwest Dallas,” she says.

Dallas Daycare Academy will care for up to 80 children from 7 a.m.- 6 p.m. Monday-Friday. The bilingual center plans to use the same educational curriculum that Dallas ISD’s early childhood programs does, Gray adds. Other activities, like gardening and yoga, also are included.

The center is slated to open in January 2018.
